What is LoRa modulation?

LoRa is a proprietary spread spectrum modulation scheme that is derivative of Chirp Spread Spectrum modulation (CSS) and which trades data rate for sensitivity within a fixed channel bandwidth. The link budget of LoRa exceeds that of conventional FSK. When taken into conjunction with the proven robustness to interference and fading mechanisms, this improvement in link budget can translate into 4x improvements in range.
